101-2. 3813 & 3820. Broadmeadow. 3813 was our tour engine, 3820 was on a Sydney-bound pass. Oh!, the joys of rail-fan travel in NSW.

101-3. 3813. Broadmeadow-Cardiff. The engine was wheel slipping at this point and the sparks generated as a result was the object of some fascination, that, the noise, plus the whopping big end flying around.

101-19. 3065. Cowra. Note the 6-wheel tender. These engines started out life as tank engines hauling Sydney’s suburban trains before electrification. Some were converted to tender engines (most got 8-wheel bogie tenders) for country work after electrification rendered them surplus for their original purpose.

101-20. 3801. Demondrille-Junee. How I like to best remember the New South Wales Government Railways. Heading back to Victoria and home, it was quite a fan trip.
